Who Should Attend?

The Asbestos Awareness training course is designed for all employees whose work could possibly expose them to asbestos and anyone involved in either building refurbishment or demolition where their work will disturb the fabric of the building.

Joining Instructions

Specific Asbestos Awareness joining instructions will be supplied to you (if appropriate) once your booking is confirmed. Course Agenda

Asbestos Awareness training courses provide individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to safely handle asbestos-containing materials. The course typically begins with an introduction to asbestos, covering its properties and uses in the past. Participants are then educated on the health risks associated with asbestos exposure and the current legislation and guidelines in place to protect workers.

The course also includes a section on legal limitations, emphasizing the importance of following proper procedures when working with asbestos. This includes understanding which types of work are liable to disturb asbestos and the necessary precautions that must be taken. Participants are also taught how to work safely in areas where asbestos materials may be present, including the use of respiratory protection equipment and personal protective equipment.

One of the key aspects of Asbestos Awareness training is the identification of suspect materials. Participants are taught how to recognize potential asbestos-containing materials and how to report any findings. They are also made aware of their personal responsibility for safety and the importance of following proper procedures to minimize the risk of exposure. In the event of accidental damage, emergency procedures are covered to ensure individuals know how to respond appropriately.

The course concludes with a section on general procedures for working with asbestos, including safe handling, disposal, and decontamination methods. Participants are also given the opportunity to ask any questions and clarify any doubts they may have. By the end of the course, individuals will have a thorough understanding of asbestos and how to safely work with it, ensuring their own safety and the safety of others.
