Who Should Attend?

The Emergency First Aid at Work training programme is designed for delegates whose employment requires them to manage a medical situation until help arrives. Alternatively where an employer's assessment of first aid identifies that a First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement is that they appoint a person to take charge of first aid facilities and emergency arrangements.

If, once confirmation has been received, you are in anyway unsure of what prerequisites or items you need to bring or provide, then your dedicated training manager or the trainer conducting your course will be able to confirm this with you. Course Agenda

- The role and responsibilities of a first aider to include minimising the risk of infection to self and others and gaining consent before providing treatment. - Assessing an incident through conducting a survey of the scene, a primary survey as well as when and how to call for help. - How to provide first aid to a casualty who is unresponsive which includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), placing a casualty into the recovery position and managing seizures. - How to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking which includes mild to severe choking, when to use back slaps and abdominal thrusts. - How to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding depending on the severity of the bleed and how to control bleeding. - How to provide first aid to a casualty in shock. - How to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries such as small cuts, grazes, bruises, splinters, minor burns, and scalds..

The Emergency First Aid at Work EFAW training course is accredited and recognized by the Health and Safety Executive HSE in the UK. Successful candidates will receive a certificate that is valid for 3 years.
