Who Should Attend?

Where a workplace first aid risk assessment identifies a need for an Emergency First Aider in the Workplace, this one-day qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

Joining Instructions

Entry requirements: The qualification is available to candidates aged 14 or over but a candidate is unable to act as a First Aider in the workplace until they reach the age of 16. Due to the practical nature of the first aid assessment there are physical demands and candidate must be able to demonstrate their skills as in a real-life situation. An example of this would be to demonstrate CPR on a manikin at floor level. It is recommended that the candidate should hold a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or equivalent to undertake this qualification. It may be possible to allocate a reasonable adjustment to a candidate who has a disability, medical condition or learning need; learners should contact us to discuss.

Course Agenda

The Emergency First Aid at Work EFAW training course is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle emergency situations in the workplace. The course covers a wide range of topics, including the role of the first aider, actions to be taken at the scene of an accident, CPR resuscitation, heart attacks, shock, bleeding, electrical injuries, burns, choking and asthma, and poisoning. ##$$##The first part of the course focuses on the role of the first aider, which includes understanding the legal requirements and responsibilities of a first aider, as well as the importance of remaining calm and acting quickly in an emergency situation. Participants will also learn how to assess the scene of an accident and identify potential hazards. ##$$##The second part of the course covers basic life support skills, such as CPR resuscitation and how to deal with heart attacks. Participants will also learn how to recognize and manage shock, as well as how to control bleeding and treat common injuries such as burns and electrical injuries. The course also includes practical demonstrations and hands-on practice to ensure participants are confident in their skills. ##$$##The final part of the course covers specific emergency situations, including choking and asthma, as well as poisoning. Participants will learn how to identify the signs and symptoms of these conditions and how to provide appropriate first aid. The course also includes information on how to use first aid equipment, such as defibrillators, and how to report and record incidents. By the end of the course, participants will have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to emergency situations in the workplace. ##$$##.

We are on the first floor of the building, there is a lift to get up to the first floor.. Drink will be provided after test is completed due to the strict regulations of the face fit test.

Accreditation

The Emergency First Aid at Work EFAW training course is accredited and recognized by the Health and Safety Executive HSE in the UK. The qualification is assessed through practical demonstration and oral questioning. Scenarios will be set to enable the candidate to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills. During the practical assessment, the candidate will be asked supporting questions by the Trainer/Assessor.The practical assessment is ongoing throughout the course but the Trainer/Assessor will make candidates aware of when they are being assessed..
