Joining Instructions

Delegate Information/Prerequisites o Delegates need to bring their Date of Birth. o Delegates are required to bring with them to the first day of the course photographic ID, i.e. a Travel Passport or Driving Licence. Delegates who do not have either of these forms of identification must contact prior to the first day of the course. Delegates need to be physically fit enough to complete the practical elements of the course. Must have a good understanding of speaking, reading/writing the English language

Course Agenda

Course Content o The roles and responsibilities of a First Aider o How to assess an incident o How to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty, including: o CPR + AEDs - This section of the course is considered to be the most important. Time is spent highlighting the causes of cardiac arrest together with the mechanics of the condition. The benefits of CPR in conjunction with the use of an AED are explained. Early intervention in cases of cardiac arrest is stressed throughout. Using an AED training unit, the use of the AED is explained in detail including the preparation of the casualty, the correct placement of the pads and matters relating to a wet chest, Jewellery and body piercing, body hair, implanted medical devices, GTN patches and the possibility of hazardous environments. Reference is continually made to CPR throughout the course. A large section of the course is based around these two areas (approx. 2 hours). All delegates have the opportunity to practice and demons.
