Joining Instructions

Delegates must have a good command of spoken and written English. The training is approximately 6 hours – it will start at 9am, with a coffee break am and pm, a lunch break around midday, and will finish at around 4pm. Course location: The Mill Building, Jackfield Tile Museum, Salthouse Road, Telford, TF8 7LJ – go through the main entrance gate and follow the path right the way through the grounds. We are the last building on your right. To help you find our office, our What3Words location is on this link what3words /// The simplest way to talk about location. Parking: Please use the visitors car park for Jackfield Tile Museum, do not pay for the parking. Your vehicle registration will be taken once you’re inside our office and entered onto the system for free parking. Identification: Please ensure you bring photographic identification. Course Materials: Publications will be provided on the course. Please bring pens, paper and post-its. Disabilities: Please inform us should the delegates have any disability requirements. The following points apply to all courses until further notice. • Delegates must bring their own food with them. A fridge is available, however please help us to limit use of shared facilities by bringing food in a cool bag. Note there is a Asda Express a few minutes drive away if they wished to get lunch from there. There will be limited refreshments available if required. • The use of dummies will be available in the course, and alcohol wipes are to be used (as usual) to thoroughly wipe down each dummy prior to and after use, which are included within personal course packs.

Course Agenda

The Emergency First Aid at Work EFAW training course is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle emergency situations in the workplace. The course covers a wide range of topics, including the role of the first aider, actions to be taken at the scene of an accident, CPR resuscitation, heart attacks, shock, bleeding, electrical injuries, burns, choking and asthma, and poisoning. ##$$##The first part of the course focuses on the role of the first aider, which includes understanding the legal requirements and responsibilities of a first aider, as well as the importance of remaining calm and acting quickly in an emergency situation. Participants will also learn how to assess the scene of an accident and identify potential hazards. ##$$##The second part of the course covers basic life support skills, such as CPR resuscitation and how to deal with heart attacks. Participants will also learn how to recognize and manage shock, as well as how to control bleeding and treat common injuries such as burns and electrical injuries. The course also includes practical demonstrations and hands-on practice to ensure participants are confident in their skills. ##$$##The final part of the course covers specific emergency situations, including choking and asthma, as well as poisoning. Participants will learn how to identify the signs and symptoms of these conditions and how to provide appropriate first aid. The course also includes information on how to use first aid equipment, such as defibrillators, and how to report and record incidents. By the end of the course, participants will have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to emergency situations in the workplace. ##$$##.

Training Venue

Around 15 minutes from junction 10 of the M54 and around 15 minutes from Telford Central train station by taxi. Parking is provided free of charge within an on-site car park (Please make a note of your vehicle registration when you sign in and WHS will upload to the system). The building is easy to locate following local tourism signs to the Jackfield Tile Museum and signage will direct you to The Mill Building within the museum grounds. We have facilities for disabled access. Refreshments (tea/coffee/biscuits) are included for all courses. There is a cafe on site in the museum grounds and a couple of pubs within short walking distance serve food at lunch time during the summer months.. Accreditation

The Emergency First Aid at Work EFAW training course is accredited and recognized by the Health and Safety Executive HSE in the UK.
