Who Should Attend?

The Emergency First Aid at Work training programme is designed for delegates whose employment requires them to manage a medical situation until help arrives. Alternatively where an employer's assessment of first aid identifies that a First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement is that they appoint a person to take charge of first aid facilities and emergency arrangements.

Joining Instructions

Specific Emergency First Aid joining instructions will be supplied to you (if appropriate) once your booking is confirmed. If, once confirmation has been received, you are in anyway unsure of what prerequisites or items you need to bring or provide, then your dedicated training manager or the trainer conducting your course will be able to confirm this with you. Contact numbers and ways to get in touch will be provided.

Course Agenda

The Emergency First Aid at Work EFAW training course is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle emergency situations in the workplace. The course covers a wide range of topics, including the role of the first aider, actions to be taken at the scene of an accident, CPR resuscitation, heart attacks, shock, bleeding, electrical injuries, burns, choking and asthma, and poisoning.

The first part of the course focuses on the role of the first aider, which includes understanding the legal requirements and responsibilities of a first aider, as well as the importance of remaining calm and acting quickly in an emergency situation. Participants will also learn how to assess the scene of an accident and identify potential hazards.

The second part of the course covers basic life support skills, such as CPR resuscitation and how to deal with heart attacks. Participants will also learn how to recognize and manage shock, as well as how to control bleeding and treat common injuries such as burns and electrical injuries. The course also includes practical demonstrations and hands-on practice to ensure participants are confident in their skills.

The final part of the course covers specific emergency situations, including choking and asthma, as well as poisoning. Participants will learn how to identify the signs and symptoms of these conditions and how to provide appropriate first aid. The course also includes information on how to use first aid equipment, such as defibrillators, and how to report and record incidents. By the end of the course, participants will have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to emergency situations in the workplace.
