Course Information

This course is designed for those who work with infants and children and have been assigned paediatric first aid responsibilities. In the context of first aid, infants are newborn to 12 months, while children are aged 12 months to the onset of puberty....

Joining Instructions

Delegates should arrive 15 minutes prior to start of course, a Permit is required for the car park which you will receive on the day of the course from our trainer, We need to be aware of any dietary requirements prior to course start date.

Course Agenda

• Emergency action and incident procedures • Care for conscious and unconscious casualties • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults, children and babies • Safe use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) • Choking in babies and young children • Dealing with minor wounds • Control of bleeding (internal and external) • Treatment of shock • Dealing with penetrative wounds • Burns, scalds, electric shock, corrosive injuries, poisons • Eye injuries • Head injuries, concussion, compression and febrile convulsions • Foreign bodies – swallowed, in ears, nose and eyes • Insect bites and stings • Extremes of heat and cold • Fracture, dislocations, sprains and strains • Chronic medical conditions in young children • Epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, meningitis and sickle cell • Anaphylactic shock.

Training Venue

We have wheelchair access to the training room including a ramp at the back of the building, a designated parking space and disabled access toilet.. Refreshments and a buffet lunch are provided on all our full day courses. (Should you have any dietary requirements please let us know at least 7 days prior to the course start date.)

Accreditation

The Paediatric First Aid 2 Day training course is accredited by XYZ Training Group and is part of the First Aid family of training courses.
