For the delegate to be trained to be competent to inspect and test electrical appliances, fully assessing if it is safe for use based upon both testing and inspection.

Who Should Attend?

PAT Testing is a skill that can be learned by almost anyone such as office maintenance staff or landlords. Some basic electrical knowledge is useful but not essential.

Specific PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) joining instructions will be supplied to you (if appropriate) once your booking is confirmed. If, once confirmation has been received, you are in anyway unsure of what prerequisites or items you need to bring or provide, then your dedicated training manager or the trainer conducting your course will be able to confirm this with you. Course Agenda

Equipment construction and classification will be covered in the first part of the course, providing an understanding of the different types of equipment and their safety requirements. Inspection frequency will also be discussed to ensure that participants are aware of how often they should be checking their equipment. Visual inspection techniques will be taught to identify any potential hazards.

The second part of the course will focus on combined inspection and testing methods, using appropriate test equipment. Participants will learn how to properly use and maintain these tools. Recording of results will also be emphasized to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations. Procedures for dealing with damaged or faulty equipment will be covered to ensure safe handling and disposal.

Specific topics such as extension leads, microwave ovens, and information technology equipment will be addressed in the third part of the course. Participants will learn how to properly inspect and test these types of equipment to ensure their safety. They will also be taught how to handle and maintain these items in a safe manner.

The final part of the course will focus on practical exercises and assessments to reinforce the knowledge and skills learned throughout the training. To ensure a smooth start, please arrive at least 15 minutes early for your course induction and registrationaim for 815am if your course begins at 830am. Parking is limited and operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving early is advisable. If the car park is full, you can use the nearby Pay and Display at your own expense.
