Joining Instructions

The HSE strongly recommends that you re qualify within a month of your certificate expiring. To be eligible to attend a two day requalification first aid at work course students who did not take their last course with St John Ambulance must present a copy of a valid First Aid at Work certificate on the first day of the course. It is the responsibility of the employer to choose a person who can physically fulfil the role of a first aider in the workplace. • back, neck, arm or knee problems • rupture or hernia • heart disease, high blood pressure, bronchitis, asthma or chest problems • blackouts, seizures or epilepsy

Course Agenda

The First Aid at Work 2 day Refresher training course is designed to refresh and update participants first aid skills for the workplace. This course covers a range of topics including administering first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles, and joints, suspected spinal injuries, chest injuries, eye injuries, sudden poisoning, and anaphylactic shock.

Participants will learn how to properly assess and manage these types of injuries, as well as how to provide effective first aid treatments. The course will also cover the use of first aid equipment and how to handle emergency situations in the workplace.

The course will be delivered over two days and will include a combination of theory and practical sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to practice their skills in simulated scenarios, allowing them to gain confidence and experience in providing first aid in a safe and controlled environment.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate that is valid for three years. This course is suitable for those who have previously completed a First Aid at Work course and are looking to refresh their knowledge and skills. It is also ideal for those who work in high-risk environments or have a duty to provide first aid in the workplace. Welcome to The Training Centre in Ipswich! Getting here is straightforward. If youre coming from the A14, head east over the Orwell Bridge. At junction 57, take the exit for Nacton Rd/A1189 towards Ipswich. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Nacton Rd, then turn left onto Bishops Hill/A1156. Continue straight onto Fore St, then take a right onto Star Ln/A1156. A slight left onto Waterworks St will lead you to St. Helens St/A1156. Keep going onto Fonnereau Rd, then turn left onto Neale St and right onto Charles St. Finally, turn left onto Fitzroy St, which becomes Claude St. The Training Centre will be on your right at IP1 3HS. Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the First Aid at Work 2 day Refresher training course, candidates will receive a First Aid at Work certificate that is valid for three years. This certificate is recognized by the Health and Safety Executive HSE and meets the requirements for workplace first aiders.

To ensure that first aid skills remain up-to-date and effective, we recommend completing an annual update of your first aid skills. This is in line with HSE recommendations and best practice. Our refresher course provides a comprehensive review of first aid techniques and procedures.

Having a valid First Aid at Work certificate demonstrates that an individual is equipped with the necessary skills to provide first aid in the workplace.
