Course Information

To provide the delegate with the theoretical and practical skills to undertake non - licensed works with ACM's. The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, Regulation 10 requires every employer to ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to their employees who are or who are liable to be exposed to asbestos, or who supervise such employees.

Who Should Attend?

Any persons carrying out non-licensed works with asbestos containing materials, as laid down in CAR 2012, Reg 3(2). This would normally include, but is not limited to, trade operatives such as demolition workers, construction workers, general maintenance staff, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, painters and decorators, joiners, shop fitters, plasterers, roofers, heating and ventilation engineers, telecommunication engineers, computer installers, fire and burglar alarm installers, architects, building surveyors and other such professionals or any other persons likely to disturb and carry out work on asbestos containing materials as defined in CAR 2012.

**Typical Agenda for a 1 Day UKATA Cat B Unlicensed Asbestos Training Course****0900 - 0930** Registration and Introduction Participants will register and receive an overview of the days agenda, objectives, and the importance of asbestos awareness in the workplace.

**0930 - 1030** Understanding Asbestos and Its Risks This session covers the types of asbestos, health risks associated with exposure, and how to assess the risk of asbestos in various environments.

**1030 - 1200** Control Measures and Safe Work Practices Participants will learn about control limits, air monitoring, maintenance of control measures, and safe work practices to mitigate risks, including working at height and managing slips and falls.

**1200 - 1300** Personal Protective Equipment PPE and Hygiene Requirements This segment focuses on the correct selection, use, maintenance, and storage of RPE and PPE, alongside hygiene requirements to ensure safety during asbestos-related work.

**1300 - 1400** Regulations and Preventative Measures An introduction to relevant regulations, Approved Codes of Practice, and guidance on preventative measures to limit exposure, including decontamination and waste handling procedures.

**1400 - 1530** Sampling Techniques and HSE Licensing Participants will explore personal sampling, leak and clearance sampling techniques, and understand which work requires an HSE licence, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

**1530 - 1600** Recording, Reporting, and Course Review The final session will cover how to record, report, and correct defects, followed by a review of key concepts and a Q&A session to clarify any outstanding queries..
