Course Agenda

In the first part of the course, delegates will cover the theory of vaccination. This includes understanding the history, infection control, and effective communication. Delegates will also learn about the different types of vaccines and their composition, as well as the national vaccine policy and schedule. They will also gain knowledge on vaccine preventable diseases and the reconstitution process.

The second part of the course takes place in a classroom setting, either in the morning, afternoon or evening. Here, delegates will have 3-4 hours to develop their practical skills through demonstrations and hands-on experience. They will learn how to administer intramuscular, intradermal and subcutaneous injections, as well as the correct techniques and anatomical site selection. Delegates will also understand the legal requirements, consent and standard operating procedures for vaccination.

Throughout the course, delegates will also cover important topics such as the immune system and how vaccines work, storage and handling protocols, and the equipment needed for vaccination. They will also learn about adverse reactions and receive basic life support guidance. Record keeping and documentation will also be discussed to ensure delegates have a thorough understanding of all aspects of vaccination. By the end of the course, delegates will have the necessary knowledge and skills to safely and effectively administer vaccines to WHO and Skills for Health recommended standards.
